Midweek Mindfulness ~ Fifth Week of Easter
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Let us take a moment to sit and rest with Jesus, the spring of living water
We offer you a song and a simple prayer

Today we meditate on John 14:1-14
A simple prayer for the Spirit to fall
Very truly, I tell you,
the one who believes in me
will also do the works that I do
and, in fact, will do greater works than these,
because I am going to the Father.
Awe-inspiring words, Jesus.
Do you really mean them?
We read stories of you . . .
of your signs and wonders . . .
are you sure?
We have never healed the sick
with a compassionate touch.
We have never cast out evil
with a stern command.
We have never fed the masses
with a fish and a loaf.
Have we?
And yet, what if we could?
What if He meant what He said,
to disciples that were
no more qualified than us?
What if the Spirit is more
than a warmed heart
or a nice idea,
but a Spirit of power
to bring the kingdom nigh?
Not in stories alone,
but in our very lives?
What if heaven longs to burst forth
on a simple Wednesday afternoon?
Around our scuffed up kitchen tables?
On the very street where we live?
What if Jesus is waiting
for an invitation to shower us
with the wild potential of the Holy Spirit?
What if the same Spirit
that raised Christ from the dead
is with us in the room . . .
even at this very moment . . .
in this very breath?
What would we ask for?
I will do whatever you ask in my name,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If in my name you ask me for anything,
I will do it.
