Today we meditate on 1 Peter 2:19-25, Psalm 23, and John 10:1-10

A simple prayer for our Shepherd King

We are the sheep of Your pasture,
the flock in Your care.
You are our shepherd,
and we listen eagerly for the
golden melodies of Your voice.
You fend off the wolves
and hem us in before and behind.
Your mighty hand protects us
as Your footsteps lead us on.
Your pasture is beautiful and good,
the richest greens and brightest blues.
At Your side we will never lack
hope, joy, love, or life.
Even if we have to tread
near to death, what is that to us?
Our shepherd has overcome it.
Even in death, we will live again.
We are Your sheep forever,
and no wolf can steal us.
When we get lost, yet
we hear Your voice on the wind,
patiently pursuing us.
You rescue us with a tireless grace.
We find communion
in the company of Your flock,
sisters and brothers all around.
In Your fields we are never alone.
And when it is time to move,
we will follow You.
You have never led us astray;
You earned our trust long ago.
Though the way be rocky,
You always lead us
into valleys of greater life.
Strangers may call to us,
but we know Your voice,
and no other will do.
Many cry out for followers,
but we have chosen You alone.
You have the words of eternal life,
and Your voice is written
in the secret places of our hearts.
Lead on, Faithful and True!
Where You go, we will follow.
