Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

A simple prayer for water in the wild
The journey through the desert
is long and difficult.
The wild is unrelenting
and the way can be confusing.
It is easy to lose track
of where we were meant to go.
Keep us on your Way, Spirit.
Show us the path to take.
Dispel mirages and all false hopes.
Lead us only into your arms.
We grow thirsty as we walk.
We long for refreshment,
for tired limbs and dry tongues.
Our feet drag and catch in the sand.
Let us arrive soon!
But if the end is not yet in sight,
at least give us water in the wild,
to strengthen and to save us.
We are thirsty, Lord.
We faint with weariness.
And yet, even still,
let us trust in the character of our God.
He is faithful to deliver us.
We have only to ask for a drink,
and Jesus will supply us.
For what then do we thirst?
What do we need more than anything right now?
Come to God with an empty cup
and see what He will do with it.
silence is kept
And if we do not thirst,
if we find ourselves fully content,
give us desire once more.
Let the powerful current
of the living water pull us
out from safe harbours
with a flag of Life flying,
that we might bring
that gift of peace
to parched places.
It is good to find rest and delight,
to be at peace at God's table.
So we bring the feast out to others.
Come to God with a glad, full cup
and see where He may send you.
silence is kept
Meet us in the wild
with springs of living water,
welling up within us.
In your mercy, Lord,
hear our prayer.
Amen
