Midweek Mindfulness ~ May 11th 2022
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Let us take a moment to sit and rest with Jesus, the spring of living water
We offer you a song and a simple prayer

A simple prayer for those who desire to hear God’s voice
What a loud world we live in!
Finding a few moments of stillness
can be an oasis in a desert
Slow us down, God.
Dim the lights.
Steady our heartbeats.
Silence
We wait for you here,
in the shelter of silence.
Quiet the notifications,
the advertisements,
the cares and worries.
Everything that shouts and rings,
that beeps and clamours,
racing with megaphones
into our minds, hearts, and spirits.
Sift our thoughts, God.
Tidy our cluttered brains.
Leave only our desire
to hear your beloved voice,
burning like a candle before us.
Silence
Perhaps you want to sit quietly with us.
Perhaps you want to speak with us.
How will we know your voice, Shepherd?
Your voice is patient and kind.
You do not envy or boast.
Your voice is not proud.
You do not dishonour others.
You are not self-interested.
You are not easily angered.
You hold no grudges.
You never delight in evil.
Your voice resonates with the joy of truth.
Your voice always protects
always trusts
always hopes
always perseveres.
Though we fail you,
you never fail us.
Open the ears of our heart
to hear you, Abba.
We want to know your voice.
Give us the beautifully humble
heart of a sheep,
that we would run to you
when you call for us.
That even in such a noisy world,
we could pick out your song with delight
and follow you.
Silence
Teach us the intimate melodies,
the life-giving choruses,
and the clear, shining notes
of your golden song, Jesus,
that we might sing it with you
for others to notice.
Not us, but You.
Imprint your voice ever more deeply
onto our listening spirits.
In your mercy, Lord,
hear our prayer.
Amen
