Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Let us take a moment to sit and rest with Jesus, the spring of living water

A simple prayer for the Sabbath
Light illumines the primordial dark,
mixing paints on your palette.
Sky fills the horizon with your breath,
stretching a pale canvas for your work.
Steady strokes bring the wild sea her dancing partner,
the land in all its greening grandeur.
The sun and moon ascend their thrones,
signs and seasons in their hands.
The waters froth and foam with finned life,
as the sky above swirls with feathers.
The land welcomes hoof, claw, scale, and paw,
kneeling and nuzzling our outstretched hands.
As you rest to drink in the perfected wholeness
of your masterpiece, it is very good.
How wonderful are your works, o Lord!
The majesty of your creation
astounds and overwhelms us.
The Webb has only begun to unveil
the distant galleries, light-years away,
where you continued to paint
for the sheer joy of boundless creation.
We look with awe upon your creations, o God;
help us to see you in them afresh.
Help us to step into your Sabbath
with your eyes for renewal,
restoration, and resurrection,
bringing us back to the wholeness
our ancient hearts still remember.
Your eyes are artist's eyes,
always seeing the potential
in discarded and broken things.
Remake and renew us, God.
Lead us out of dead religion
and into the wholeness of Eden;
lead us to the Sabbath that will reign
forever and ever, that by your side
we would find our promised rest.
In your mercy, Lord,
hear our prayer.
Amen
