A simple prayer for those watching the news in Ukraine

God, where are you in all this?

They flee by the tens of thousands,
ripped from homes and families,
memories and dreams
All we can do is watch
and pray, and give
But we cannot end this war.

God, where are you?

We have no power to cast him down
or to resurrect the dead.
But You scatter the proud
and bring down rulers from their thrones
You lift up the humble
and fill the hungry with good things

Scatter them, King of Kings
Stay his hand and soften his heart
Send them home

We know that it is you welcoming the weak
feeding the hungry, tending the wounded,
opening doors for families to find shelter
without money, without price
You are walking with Ukrainian families
through the valley of the shadow of death,
Shepherding them even as we pray

Protect and defend them, Father.
Hold them in your loving arms
And guide their feet to safety

Help us, Lord, to do what we can
for brothers and sisters on the run,
harried and broken by evil

Deliver them from evil, God.
Stretch out your mighty arm to save them

Our hope is in You,
our Rock and Rescuer

In your mercy, Lord,
