Trinity United Church, Kitchener Pledges Community Support for Covid-19

In the past month the Board of Trinity has approved significant financial support to our community in response to the Covid-19 impact on local social services. Trinity is blessed with resources at a time when community resources are eroding and disappearing quickly. We are pleased to be positioned to make impactful contributions to support community organizations responding to the global pandemic.

Using the income earned from the Legacy Fund 2, (the proceeds of sale of 74 Frederick) Trinity has pledged up to $300,000 to community organizations.  The funds are targeted to basic humanitarian needs of food, shelter and healthcare. The funds are distributed as follows:

  1. The Waterloo Region Foodbank $100,000

  2. The House of Friendship (rebuilding the shelter system) $75,000

  3. The Inner City Health Alliance $75,000.  The ICHA alliance includes Sanguen Health Centre, Sanctuary Health, Downtown Kitchener Community Health Centre, The Working Centre and the Kitchener Health Network. This gift is administered by the United Way.

Additional funds have been set aside to respond to immediate needs in the Trinity congregation due to the impact of Covid 19.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like any further information.
