Today we meditate on Matthew 13:31-52

A simple prayer for kingdom understanding

How sweet and rich,
how joyful and light
to live in the kingdom of heaven!
To live in step with its
'unforced rhythms of grace'
is our great delight.

Train our steps, Jesus,
to dance with you
in the rhythm of Life.
Pull us into the music,
tune our hearts to the song
you are always singing.

The kingdom is a seed,
starting small but shooting upwards,
offering shelter and shade
to others in the garden.

Sow those precious seeds in us, Holy Spirit.

The kingdom is like yeast
buried all throughout the dough,
bringing out Life that showers
friends and neighbours in abundance.

Knead your yeast into us, Holy Spirit.

The kingdom is a hidden treasure,
stumbled on unexpectedly,
catching the corner of our eye.
When we turn aside for it
we see its great worth,
surpassing all we have.

Catch our eye with your treasures, Holy Spirit.

The kingdom is a great net,
catching all kinds in its trawl.
But only good will endure in the end.
Death, Evil, and Sin will be cast out forever.

Sift our lives and throw out what's rotten, Holy Spirit.

The kingdom is coming;
it is already here!
Blessed are those who wash in its waters,
who find the pearl of great price,
who trade it all for what they cannot lose.
